Some time back I started working on a floral pattern based on some doodles I had made of different flowers, I liked it but something wasn’t really working for me, until I played around with the colours and hit upon this pink and teal combination.

Ironically yellow is my least favourite colour but I found it really helped the pattern pop when I added it.
Uploading this pattern got delayed by some technical issues I was having at 123rf, I wanted those sorted before adding this one, and in a way, it worked out for the better.
When I first started learning how to make repeat patterns one of the most helpful things I found was Oksancia’s YouTube channel. I still use her symbol system for pattern creation rather than Illustrators pattern tool, and last weekend I watched one of her courses about using symbols for pattern iterations.
I have yet to properly dive into it with new patterns but while watching I was playing about with some of the flowers I had made and really liked this particular layout.

While I liked the flowers I felt the background needed a little extra so added some yellow polka dots.
I then thought that if I was making two patterns I might as well make three so I made a striped pattern using the same colour palette. Then I got carried away and made six colour variations of polka dots too.
