I’ve always liked tulips so decided to turn some tulip doodles I drew into a pattern, much like my previous daisy pattern I traced the doodle onto tracing paper then scanned it.

But unlike my previous patterns these were created using the built in pattern maker in Illustrator, I have played about with it before but never created a finished pattern using it until now.
I recently signed up for another year of Skillshare, my previous year’s subscription ran out a while back but they offered me a discount so I grabbed it, and I found a class on using the pattern maker tool which was very useful.

It required me to do a bit of adaptation to get the final pattern viable for microstock but once I worked out the best method for doing so it was pretty straightforward.
I will defnitely be using the pattern tool again, maybe not all the time but it’s always good to have options.
