I’m still very much in the experimental stage when it comes to pattern creation, trying to find my own style and my favourite method of drawing elements, sometimes I will trace over a scanned sketch with my tablet, other times I will create it purely inside Illustrator, either with the tablet or the various shape tools.

This time though I tried something I learned from one of my skillshare lessons, using tracing paper to trace a sketch with a fine liner pen and then using live trace in Illustrator.
You could always use a lightbox or a window but the tracing paper gives a cleaner line as apparently the pen bleeds less, well I gave it a go and was very pleased with the result I got for these daisy flowers and leaves.
I will definitely be trying this method again for future patterns.
